About Resolve Home Energy EPC’s

Much like the multi-coloured sticker on new appliances, EPCs tell you how energy efficient a building is, and give it a rating from A (very efficient) to G (inefficient). They let you know how costly is will be to heat and light the property and what its carbon dioxide emissions are likely to be. The EPC will also state what the energy efficiency rating could be if improvements are made; and highlights cost-effective ways to achieve a better rating.

Solar PV Systems actually count towards your EPC rating, and can often higher the grade you received to the next band. For example, a 4KW system can add up to 15 points to your EPC rating, meaning if you started at a low level E, after installation your property would then be a low level D. Even the smallest systems we provide can add 4 or 5 points to your rating.

Key Factors That Affect
Your EPC Rating

The surveyor will check over the whole of your property to conduct the EPC, looking at the main aspects listed above. Once we have carried out the EPC survey, you will receive an EPC certificate, and we will provide you with a report of cost effective recommendations to improve your homes performance. Depending on what rating you receive, we can then help you to raise your property grade to a more efficient level if necessary, with the building and maintenance services we offer.

The type of construction of the building (including the walls, roofs and glazing of windows/doors etc)

The thermal, solar and daylight properties of the building and its air tightness

Space heating installation and hot water supply (boiler type etc) including seasonal efficiency, responsiveness and controls

Ventilation, air-conditioning systems (cooling) and controls

Fixed lighting

The type of fuel and renewable energy sources (for example, the use of sustainable carbon technology like solar water heating, ground source heat pumps, wind turbines etc)
